I was sitting on the sofa a few minutes ago reading a book, when a young man walked in said hello and held out his hand. He was 18 years old or so and and I started to shake his hand but he took my hand bowed and and toched it to his forehead then said bless you Tito and smiled broadly. I saw that familiar look in his that I see many times a day which says I mean it. Then he walked out a few minutes later his mother came in and said that he was her son... and smiled proudly I could see he was a college student by his uniform ( yes they wear uniforms even in college ). His mother Rhea and her sister Angie come everyday to do do the Laundry for the whole family (By hand lots of work). Their older sister whose name I cant pronounce comes along and does the cooking so I call her Cookie. I believe these are Norma Lapid Cousins and I have tried to pay them but they take nothing more than a meal which is offered to any visitor no matter how much I insist. This is an amazing place because of the people who are so full of joy and are completely selfless. When I walk down the street people stare and I see them thinking what is that behemoth lumbering towards me as for many of the young children I am the first foriegner they have ever seen. I always smile and say hello and as soon as I do there are smiles everywhere along with embarrassed giggles. The people here are very special and have very little. They talk loud and fast with infectous laughter infused regularly into every conversation Life is humble here and I love it.
