I was spanked as a child. I was also beaten . There is a difference. Both have different outcomes. Both were effective and (usually) merited, and I learned valuable lessons. Im not scarred for life, so I wont be entered into any statistics or national registry, but I wanted to voice here; please, spank your kids now, so they wont be beaten to death in bars or shot by police officers. That said, please, PLEASE do not abuse your children. I cannot say I was physically abused as a child, because I wasnt, and I hope what Im saying does not come across as a defense of child abuse, because it certainly is not. Please do not condemn all physical punishment in the name of ending abuse. Because abuse is not always physical, and not all physical punishment is abuse. Thats all. Thank you.
