I was speaking to a friend about forgiveness, something she was - TopicsExpress

I was speaking to a friend about forgiveness, something she was completely unwilling to practice. She said she saw no upside to forgiveness, so I talked about forgiveness: --being our vehicle out of the past into the present --allowing us to move forward --creating lightness --facilitating a letting go of anger & resentment --opening the door to our own forgiveness (by self & by others) --healing and ending separation --cultivating our recognition of opportunities She was not convinced, and said what about the down side? I could think of none, and asked what she saw as the down side. She said, It invites the forgiven to walk all over you. I replied that it was really a lack of boundaries, not forgiveness, that invites others to walk all over us. I reminded her that forgiveness: --doesnt mean forgetting --doesnt mean condoning --doesnt mean excusing --doesnt mean approving --doesnt mean allowing the person back into our lives Her response: Whatever - Im still not willing to forgive. I thought, but didnt say, youll continue to be limited by that unwillingness. as always, in love & service - jay
