I was speaking with a good friend in Canada this morning (the joys of technology and time zones) and he said something that struck me: that both love and hate bind us to things and people. This friend and I also spoke a few weeks ago about how indifference may be one of the most powerful forms of cutting ourselves off from things - in my view, not in a good way. Relationships aside (the most obvious area of focus) take the environment, or poverty and starvation in different countries as an example, indifference shuts us out from any responsibility we have to address a situation. It led to an interesting dialogue about our responses to situations and the choices we need to make, every day, in the moment, to be true to ourselves and our own personal journey. I make no point here, other than the case for carefully observing where love, hate (or fear) or indifference are present in your life, and then choosing your response to what you see
