I was struck during last years festival by the redness of the dominant porcinis caps, so unlike the mostly just brownish caps of most of BCs porcinis. Several other mushrooms in Colorado seemed almost entirely unlike, but not quite enough to be different species, from our coastal equivalents that Im intrigued. I kept a few interesting collections from last year: Now at UBC Herbarium Vancouver BC Albatrellus subrubescens Pilei with faint fine reddish brown scales, spores amyloid. August 17 2013 Cortinarius cf. gentilis Has widely spaced gills which are a weird dark olivaceus rusty colour. Lizard Head near Telluride Colorado coll.
