I was tagged by a couple of friends with a post regarding books that give an impact on their lives. Ive read many books both fiction and non-fiction. I read for pleasure and not for knowledge so I really cant say which books have an impact on me except the Bible. There are many that I find interesting and that it resonate with my own beliefs and values. Take for example the 14-book series by Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time) and 16-book series by Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth). The reason is because these books are about good and evil, light and dark in humanity, social and political principles that are ubiquitous in our daily lives. I also like to read romance novels. I started reading Harlequin Romance books back in high school and then Norah Roberts and Danielle Steele at a later age. I can say that it gave an impact on my beliefs in love and romance and never for any material reason. I could have married rich if I wanted to as I was engaged to a doctor and dated rich men with high social status. So I guess, I can say that besides the Bible, romance and fantasy books have a big impact in my life. They reinforced my values and principles; to always try to be a good person, real with no pretense of social and economic status and to follow my heart. We also have a collection of other books like a book series of Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Game of Thrones, Twilight (hehehe... yeah its cheesy love story), Dan Browns books as we also like mystery. Donnie honey and I have the same interest in books. We also like espionage and suspense so we have all of Robert Ludlums books on Bourne Identity, Tom Clancy, John Grisham and many others. I also like mystery and Ive read most if not all of Agatha Christies books and I thought before I wanted to be a like Jane Marple, the female counterpart of Hercule Poirot, the detectives in Agatha Christies books. We also have books by David Eddings, Stephen King and others, fiction and non-fiction. Ive also read some of Sidney Sheldon and Jackie Collins books for fictional drama. A friend put Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy at the top of her list and I forgot that we do have it. I think my daughter Michelle who is a bookworm bought this. This girl had several bookcases of books since high school. She used to spend her time in her bedroom reading and I couldnt even send her to her room to ground her because that was where she spent her time anyway. My eldest granddaughter is the same. Shes just as a voracious reader as my daughter. She spends her allowance on books instead of clothes. These are just some of the books we kept as we gave away a lot of them when we moved and only kept some of our favorites. Some are in boxes. But my daughter and granddaughter have many times more than this. So if anyone else tags me about books. I will copy and paste this message. Hehehehe.... Happy reading! I just finished reading the 14th and 15th books of the Sword of Truth book series and non-fiction books by Robert M. Gates, the former Secretary of Defense (Duty)Ed Kleins Blood Feud: The Clintons versus the Obamas and I still have few pages left on the book, America by Dinesh DSouza. We just bought the latest 16th book of the Sword of Truth book series so I will be busy on that, too and then I will read Anna Karenina. I read the cover excerpts and it sounds like a great love story. I cant wait to be thrilled. :)
