I was talking over some recent life events with a friend - TopicsExpress

I was talking over some recent life events with a friend yesterday. The conversation revolved around the fact that a few years ago when life would throw me a curve or throw a friend or family member into turmoil I would just power through it or advise them to do that. I was insensitive to both my own pain and others. Over the course of the past couple years as I have been learning, through a series of fortunate events and people God has placed in my path, to live with more vulnerability, to allow myself to be broken and to accept the brokenness of all around me. The interesting thing to me is how this does not make anything easier. It does in fact seem to make lifes blows even more devastating. It is the heightened awareness of and acceptance of my imperfections and the imperfections of others that allow me, us, to feel pain more deeply than ever before. But that same sensitivity also allows for a heightened sense of joy and love and grace. So in all, this journey to authenticity, to acceptance of who I am, who we are, in Christ, is about living life to the fullest and feeling every pain to its depths and every joy to its heights. It is a better way of living because just powering through everything is not the life God intended for us.
