I was told by an informant earlier that my name was among those allegedly used by a certain Engineer Dungog who claimed to be either an employee of the City Economic Enterprise Department or to have connections at City Hall. The connections allegedly lead to me. This person reportedly collected P30k from a prospective lessee of a stall inside the Cogon Market, and that P10k would be paid to me and P10k would be paid to Atty. Roy Raagas so that the application for lease could be "facilitated." I was also informed this morning that the matter has reached the airwaves. My only reaction was "ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha... are we that cheap?" Seriously, not any one of us [Engr. Peter Abejuela, Atty. Roy Raagas, Atty. Egay Uy] has authorized anybody to collect any amount of money for any purpose, much less facilitate applications for the lease of market stalls. Our names are being maliciously used by persons who may have criminal intents. We are currently working on the proper allocation of available stalls inside the market, among the preparatory steps of which is the on-going profiling of vendors with the help of Xavier University’s KKP-SIO, and CEED is not yet accepting applications for lease of market stalls. Let this be a warning to the public not to fall prey to nefarious schemes such as the one described above. All announcements regarding the availability of market stalls will be officially made by either Engr. Peter Abejuela, Atty. Roy Raagas, Ms. Maricel Casino-Rivera, or Atty. Egay Uy. And may this serve as a stern warning to those who besmirch our names. We will not hesitate to file criminal actions against them.
