I was trying to remain tight lipped about this... but I figure that enough is enough... I have to say something... I am appalled at how the National Cultural Foundation has been treating veterans in Bajan Soca as of late. The last 2 scenarios involve Eric Lewis and Mike Hulsmeier. I am also shocked at how there seems to be a down right mission to KILL Crop Over. Now lets take a look at Trinidad and Tobago. Do you think that their cultural foundations would EVER disrespect Crazy? Leston Paul? Why is that? Well a few reasons. But mainly they would NEVER get away with it. Eric Lewis and MADD as well as Mikey and Red Boyz are the Bajan equivalents. What ever the agenda is with the NCF of Barbados I will tell you THIS. There will be NO CROP OVER in 5 years if there is not a serious intervention done. I DEAD SERIOUS. I created a group about improving the issues that the NCF seem to face and how Bajans OVERALL could contribute into improving their festival as well as their own brand of music. Notice that group is gone. Over 2000 members I had to physically remove (manually) to close that down. The NCF is STALE in their IDEAS. They are below average when you compare them to the other small islands foundations (that have put them self on the map as of late). If they are clueless on HOW to not only improve Crop Over but help catapult Bajan Soca back to be front runners on the INTERNATIONAL MARKET then ASK SOMEBODY. There are people out there who have the expertise to assist. There are Bajans ON and OFF the island that have a very clear understanding of how this music thing works but they never went to no big school so they are not on the radar. Its sad. Truly. That Crop Over and Bajan Music has become entangled in some politically bad or misguided agenda. When it comes to MUSIC and CULTURE I do not see how it should be about the Bs or Ds... you all are forgetting the Wes.... Ah gone!!!
