I was walking the hallways at Glynn Middle School in little ol Brunswick, GA when one of my sisters former teachers brought me a copy of Walter Dean Myerss Monster to help spur on my screenwriting. It was such a searing tale of loneliness and frustration, and though I didnt know his world, man did I know that boy within those pages. In the years that have followed, Walter Dean Myers remains a strong influence on me - not just on how I spin my web of fiction, but by being the exemplar of the social ignition that can occur due to the stories I choose to tell.
