I was watching Undercover Boss the other day and it reinforced - TopicsExpress

I was watching Undercover Boss the other day and it reinforced some of the ideology and reasoning that I have behind Atlantic City going down the tubes like it has.. Ive been a part of the nightlife scene in Atlantic City for almost 8 years now and the last 3 years especially I have been noticing this more and more. All of these bosses running businesses, and they dont even know what or how to do the simple tasks that they instill in their team to do on a daily basis. That is part of the culture you created, how do you not know what to do or how to do it? And youre holding your team to a standard that you can even meet? Really?? Way too many people in positions of power that have no clue what they are doing. Not saying I could do a better job then anyone and not trying to call anyone out, but when you see management that hire people who they think they can mold as opposed to hiring characters with personalities that have experience, it makes no sense. So we teach these people what to do but the only thing they know is what they are taught, which is limited to the knowledge and training of their teacher. No one takes advice from people or help from people unless its their idea, they are going to get credit for it, or they wont have to pay for it. Everyone is so worried about how to Cut costs to increase profits as opposed to how they can delegate their money more productively. I see plenty of opportunities in Atlantic City but no one supports each other. We are all in battle between the next building over or person next to us, and no one is realizing that what this city really needs is to come together. Atlantic City is a Tourist Destination yet few places really take care or do something over and above for the locals that make it tick. We need to stop fighting amongst each other and realize that we are in this together. Our competition is the casinos in PA, CT, NY, Baltimore, not to mention the increase in entertainment being provided in north jersey, NY, and all these new music festivals emerging in every major city. DO AC was the first thing everyone in this city got behind since Ive been a part of it. But no one even does anything for Do AC anymore. Who runs it, and why is it that it seems like its geared towards families? Atlantic City is not designed to cater to families! Over the last few years we, as AC VIP, have felt overlooked, under appreciated, and are tired of having to prove ourselves for every dollar that we earn, as if this is the first time people are finding out what we are capable of. And sometimes having to chase our money just to get it weeks or months later is not a structure we want to be a part of. Thats not how business should be done. We have been devoting the majority of our time to DJing because anyone can be a promoter now a days because the pay and risk for employment is what it is. A promoter is no longer viewed as a host, the quality of the people you bring out is disregarded for the number that those people add up to, average customer spends are not even considered, a host is now viewed as a manager (yet not paid as one), and no one cares about what the customers want anymore because they are too worried about what They want for themselves or their venue/business. If you are in business you should be a professional, no matter what field it is you work in. People need to realize and understand there will always be something or someone better then you out there. That doesnt mean you should feel threatened or try to separate yourself from them, that just means you have the opportunity to learn something new. Learn something new each day so you can improve not only your business/profession, but you can improve as an individual. A job is only your life until you get fired, then its only another job. Dont think you know everything and we can accomplish anything.. Together! #Doac #openyoureyes #stopfightingit #moveforward or #RIP #AtlanticCity
