I was watching an episode of Through the Wormhole and there was this interesting episode about life after death and how our minds could be connected through the universe on a quantum level. Dr. Stuart Hammeroth is the director of consciousness studies at the University of Arizona and he presents this theory. Our brain cells have these structures called microtubules. They are like the bone structures of our brain. They process information at the molecular level. They allow neurons and the brain as a whole to act as a whole to operate like a quantum computer. One hemisphere of your brain is made of neurons and the brain can work quantumly between separate hemispheres although these neurons are separated stationary. So one part of the brain which has activity can have an influence on another like a quantum entanglement. At the fine structure of the universe may contain quantum information. They present this theory about proto-consciousness which could be the intricate part of the universe. So when you die, your heart stops beating, your blood stops moving and your microtubules lose their quantum state. Logically you would think that they quantum information in the microtubules gets destroyed in your brain but they believe it may not. It possibly could dissipate and distribute to the rest of the universe at large and connect to this quantum information that makes up the fine fabric of the universe. So what about near death experiences, with people who felt like they connected to something much bigger than themselves and bring back stories of being connected to something bigger? That quantum information that distributed and connected to the rest of the universe that released from their microtubules, when that person becomes revived, brought back that quantum information back into their microtubules! Basically the soul is a quantum computer hardwired into the cosmos. And researchers are slowly validating this mans claims. There are quantum effects which control biological bodies like the process of bird navigation, to photosynthesis, to even the human sense of smell. We are stardust.
