I wasnt around for his first ride, but Ive been catching up over the past year or so on Cozy TV. William Boyd was a pretty savvy guy too, he saw the future in TV syndication, so he sold everything he owned so he could buy the rights to the Hopalong character. He cut up some old flicks to make half-hour episodes for TV, then made some new ones with Edgar Buchanan to have enough episodes for syndication. He made a mint from the TV and merchandising rights, and rode off into the sunset to live the rest of his life quietly in Palm Springs, CA.
