I wasnt going to do this because like so many others I felt kind of like a shadow person in high school. Unless you frequented the band room or the science department we likely never met. But Ive had a gas the past couple of weeks meeting new old friends so here goes. Went on a mission to Hong Kong from July 78 to July 80 and actually got transferred to New York to open a Chinese speaking branch the last 6 months of my mission. Came home and got married in November that year to Tammy Garlick a Davis Dart from Kaysville. We met in the marching band at the U of U. Go Utes! Went to dental school in Lincoln, Nebraska from 83-86. Go Huskers! and then moved to Kansas City for 3 years to do my Orthodontic residency at UMKC. Go Kangaroos. We then moved home and started a practice in West Jordan in 89. Since business was slow, I was looking for other opportunitys and found a part time practice in Richfield. I ran both practices plus another one in Clearfield until we decided wed had enough of the traffic and congestion in Salt Lake and moved to Richfield in the fall of 96. Since we moved here its become home. Im currently serving on the Richfield City Council and have been for the past 7 years. I ran for mayor a year ago and got soundly thumped. So I guess Im not as popular as I thought I was. In the fall of 97 a friend and I started a community show choir for high school aged kids and directed that for 17 years before I gave it up a year ago. Have also served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and helped start a booster club at the high school. My work there got me inducted into the Richfield High School Hall of Fame. So Im not nearly cool enough to be in my own high school hall of fame but I am in my kids. Go figure. Also have had the opportunity to be involved in Community theater and have played Daddy Warbucks, The King in The King and I , and Fagin in Oliver among others. Love being on the stage. We have 4 awesome kids. My oldest son has all 6 of our grandkids at this point. 4 boys and 2 girls. The oldest one is 9. I sure wish Oklahoma was closer. Our only daughter is pregnant with her first and is due the first of next month but her doctor thinks shes going to have it this week. Also a boy. She and her husband are living in Salt Lake so we should get to see him a bit more often than the others. We also have 2 sons that are not married. One lives in L.A. and is an actor. You may have seen him as the talking mime in a recent State Farm Commercial. We LOVE anything Disney and love to travel. Ill basically go anywhere with anybody any time for any reason, or no reason at all just tell me when to be at the airport. Weve had the opportunity to travel to Thailand, Korea, Japan, Ecuador, Venezuela, Mexico, Spain, France, England, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Tahiti, Hawaii and are going on a cruise to New Zealand in the spring. Oh and did I mention the heart attack? No? sorry. I had a heart attack on labor day weekend of 06 at a U of U/UCLA football game at the Rose Bowl. Had to have a stent put in. Scared the life out of everybody but me. I was just annoyed. But am doing great. I started running after that to get myself in healthy and have run 3 marathons since 2009. I think Ive got that out of my system. At 55 I can still pull myself out of the water on a slalom ski and do! O.K thats probably enough. Hope youre neither annoyed nor bored to death.
