I wasnt going to say anything, but then someone posted this. I think this guy wants a pity party. I mean, really? Lets examine this closer. If police are needed for a legitimate reason, acting within the laws and according to the oaths they swore, I dont think they are unwanted, unappreciated, nor are the public ungrateful for their service. Police who act outside of those bounds, however, are another story. Lets not confuse the two. Also, given the rise of police violence coupled with unbiblical overreach, I dont think its a good idea to continue perpetuating the false and unbiblical idea of their god/hero-complex as if it is something to be praised. The perception that they are somehow automatically honorable, are never to be questioned or criticized is further beyond the pale. Police need to be held accountable for their actions, including their decision to enforce the law. They need to be reminded just exactly to whom they are accountable to at the end of the day, and its our job to tell them that. Romans 13 tell us: Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for she is Gods servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out Gods wrath on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid Gods wrath but also ufor the sake of conscience. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. We would do well to remember and teach others that God defines what is good or bad, not the state. It is ignorant, unbiblical, and unjustifiable to ignore those part of the scriptures. At the end of the day, we must obey God rather than men. As for the incident in Ferguson, MO, in my opinion, both the citizen and the officer are guilty.
