I wasnt going to share this but I feel it is relevant to highlight just how much mental illness is still deeply ingrained in those who seem sane and what we can do to help them. So my Suns father who plays and has played no role whatsoever in the upbringing of our sun writes me today asking me if I am a Rastafarian to which I reply what is that. He goes on to explain that since I have locs on my head and as I explained I am deeply rooted to my Ankh-cestral ways of living, notably righteousness, that I should know.... Wait for it..... Ready...... Ok....since he is the only one to have planted a seed in my fertile earth, that makes him my King and no other. Apparently the Lion (him) plants the seed/s (in his case, the latter) and the lioness is responsible for rearing, unaided. SMH...I replied if that pleases his ego, good on him but shame on him. I explained to him that a king in my eyes is defined by Act-I-on of Man-hood, minimally provider and protector, not lack of nor a very misguided Ego. And since hes done neither, the highest and only title he will ever hold is that of father, even though he takes no responsibility, I will not take that away from him. I ended convo on, I cant waste my time and energy on one who cares not for himself nor his own so when he is ready to prove so, we are always there and the door is always open when he wishes to take responsibility for his sun. #sending #healing #love #misguided #being
