I wasnt there. Not quite what I would have liked -- a sort of compromise with the police. Demonstrators were not allowed onto Interstate 65, but police shut it down. I am disappointed that the police threatened to arrest anyone going onto Interstate 65. The threat of arrest for such actions is more authoritarianism than I care to see. When Obama came to visit on Tuesday and shut down the roads, he didnt get arrested or threatened with arrest; but when Eric Garner gets murdered by police and people want to object to business as usual, they were threatened by arrest. Apparently powerful people can shut down roads whenever they like, but the people cannot. Whose roads? Whose police? I havent yet decided whether Ill attend tomorrow nights rally. Apparently they want to shut down a shopping mall for a while. I am guessing thats going to result in lots of arrests. Id like to shut down capitalism, but I dont think thats an effective way to do it. I think the first step is to get more people actually saying they want to shut down capitalism. These people arent even saying that. Theyre saying shut it down, but theyre not saying what it is. I have mixed feelings about that.
