I watched the 2nd walk off win for our Amazing Cardinals this - TopicsExpress

I watched the 2nd walk off win for our Amazing Cardinals this evening. Like usual, I hung around for the post game interviews. This evening, two of these interviews involved young players requiring a translator. I listened as our newest team members shared comments (through translation) regarding their participation of the recent wins. As I watched, something hit me..... it is interesting how we welcome these new team members regardless of their culture or ability to speak English. We do not boycott the game because we have teammates of different backgrounds that cannot speak OUR language... these young men are welcomed into our community, we hold them up, we care for them and provide resources for their success. We translate, we celebrate, we are happy to be integrated.... (and now it gets real).... our Church family has been growing recently. The largest area of our growth is Hispanic parishioners... a number of our heritage members have been offended and upset by the influx, persons have boycotted and went elsewhere, much hurt has occurred because of the needs of our growing community, particularly the Hispanic culture.... We need to step up and translate, welcome, and celebrate at the altar, we need to provide resources and find happiness in integration.... we need to treat our fellow parishioners and those in our community that come from a different background as well as we treat our Professional Baseball players. Done.
