I welcomed a foster kiddo into my home. I registered her at the new school and they wanted me to bring her in first thing tomorrow morning to meet teacher and to discuss her needs... to which I said, nope. I requested a separate meeting today with a panel consisting of the school psychologist, school counselors, spec ed teacher, and her 4th grade teacher where we will discuss her history, potential issues, and needs; set up notification system, communications, along with a buddy system so she is not left alone to eat lunch or go anywhere by herself in this new environment. We owe this child an optimal fresh start in a new place where everyone is advocating for her. Thanks Kathy Kubiak and Jim Kubiak for reminding and encouraging me that this is what I am gifted to do.
