I went making my hair today, and heard some youths discussing about the candidacy of Hon Kunle Olujuyigbe. After listening to them discuss in an unsavoury way for about 10 minutes, I called them to inquire about what the man had done wrong to deserve such reactions from them. They categorically told me that he had done nothing for the constituency which he represents. This came as a surprise to me, because i remember seeing some pictured boreholes on Facebook which were purportedly built by him. These young men told me to try going to fetch water from these boreholes to check if they were functioning. While arguing and trying to correct their impression, , an old woman came out to back the young men in their claim. Her reason? She hadnt seen the honorable since they voted for him on their street, and as such, they had all resolved not to vote him in again. The kids went on to complain that a body of NANS, comprising of Akure students held their annual week celebrations sometime ago, and their honorable refused to render any form of assistance, as against the huge assistance given to them by Hon. Kemi. All in all, I could gather that the youths, numbering about ten, along with some older women in the area had made up their mind to work against the man if he is eventually picked by his party. Now comes to my question. ........What is the function of the legislative arm of government? ....... Why do Nigerians keep having the believe that anyone in government must serve as a meal ticket to all and sundry? When are the youths of this country actually going to start thinking right? All these young men are actually students in different higher institutions of learning, who i believe by virtue of their education should know better. Ordinarily, Hon Kunle Olujuyigbe MAY not get my vote for personal reasons, but still, I dont believe he or any other person should be judged on what we perceive they should have done, which in actual fact isnt their duty. Let us start thinking right! Let us start judging right too. We must strive to move in the right direction.
