I went out looking today for migrants away from the house; here the same birds seem to be hanging around! So today I found and scratched OFF my NEMESIS list a LIFE BIRD, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER!!!! (and # 176 for Sevier County 2014). It was in the developed part of The Summit on Bluff Mountain. I entered from Waldens Creek Road on Summit Trails Drive and about 3/4 mile up I saw a big flycatcher sporting white on its back so I immediately stopped on the side of the road, put the binos on the bird and found this OSFL perched in the top of a dead snag; with its back to me the white feather tufts were plainly visible, so I went for the camera and scope and it changed positions. I stayed there for 15 minutes looking and taking photos of this bird but it never would turn around again so I could view its back. But there is not doubt about this birds identification. Here are a few not so good photos (about 80+ yards away) that show its large bill, white throat, vested breast, and a bit of white in one photo. Ive been looking for this bird for 30 years!!!!! Finally.
