I went to Dunkin Donuts in Morris this morning for the usual. As I - TopicsExpress

I went to Dunkin Donuts in Morris this morning for the usual. As I pull into the drive through there is a man sitting there with a sign that read Hungry, Please help. Many times I pass people like this without a second thought. The look of despair on his face was evidence of some truly rough times. In all honesty, I do not like giving money to homeless people. It may be a fault of mine but I fear that what I give them ends up in a needle or a brown paper bag. Regardless of my own personal struggles with believing in peoples honesty, I decided to buy him breakfast and eat with him. I got out of the truck and sat on the curb with him. We ate and talked. He wasnt just some homeless guy riding a bike with a flat tire anymore. His name was Tim. He lost his job at a printing press 8 months ago when they went out of business. He then lost his house to foreclosure and wife and kid through divorce. Money can put a real strain on relationships. I know, Ive been there. My skeptical side hopes that all he said was true. Either way, I have his contact info and will be bringing him an employment application tomorrow morning. Im not hiring right now but things change. I am a private person when it comes to internet posting. Besides smartass jokes, sarcasm, and an occasional warm fuzzy comment, I really try to keep to myself in the digital world. This should tell you all something about the impact Tim had on me this morning. I consider myself a caring person, but for the most part that ended at friends and family. There are a couple people that I would like to thank for the recent impact on my thought process. One is Mary Gramling with an inspirational video about how you can sometimes judge people just by looking at them. The other was a woman that I do not know her name. We were at the VeZain Parade Party yesterday and an obviously homeless or very poor man rode around collecting pop can tabs. She walked out and started talking to him. By listening I could tell that they had met before and asked how he was doing and if he needed anything. The last I saw, she gave him a few dollars and they continued to talk. Anyway, this is long enough. Keep Tim and this post in mind if youre driving though Morris and see a help wanted sign. Have a great day everyone.
