I went to a memorial service in Atteridgeville this afternoon. I have one highlight, one lesson, one question. Highlight - a brilliant speech by an upright (no room for walking stick) 90 year old church rep who does not tolerate late coming and announced very proudly that he does not suffer from hypertension. He did not even use spectacles to read his speech. Lesson - listening to people speak fondly about someone who has passed on reinforced my deep-seated belief of living simply with humility and compassion. Life is so simple, we are the ones who complicate it. Question - if today was the day of your funeral and someone was asked to speak about you or read your orbituary, what would they say about you?
