I went to a visitation for a coworkers mother after work tonight. It is never easy to go to those things. My coworkers mother was 97 years old and I know she lived a long and wonderful life, but her absence in the lives of her loved ones will still be very difficult. My coworker Patty is probably the seventh or eighth person that I know who has lost a parent this year. Its never easy to be in that position and to deal with that loss. Patty talks about her family so much, including her mom and her dad who has been gone for so many years. What a testament to them and her whole family that she talks about them so fondly and with such happiness. I talk about my own family in the same way, which is probably one of the reasons Patty and I get along so well and always have a lot to talk about. Family is so very important and I know that despite her mothers loss and absence, Patty has a wonderful family that will continue to stick together through good times and bad.
