I went to an Equity Dance call, yesterday, something I havent been - TopicsExpress

I went to an Equity Dance call, yesterday, something I havent been able to do for many years, and here are my observations: I so enjoyed the focus in the room and the professionalism and mutual respect the dancers had for each other. The two associates involved with the Broadway Production were fun, taught us very thoroughly, seemed very interested in us and wanted us to do well, gave lots of corrections and notes. I went in for several reasons, to see if my brain can still pick up combinations quickly and also because Im teaching and choreographing and I wanted to flip back to being on the other side for a day so I can remember to have patience and compassion when I give the work. Myself and one other dancer thanked the accompanist, who played a complicated piece beautifully over and over for more than an hour. I think it is important to remember all the people, including the monitor of the audition, and thank them for their time. It was fun to get my heart rate up and t be excited to learn new material (that wasnt my own stuff!) The best past of this business is that there is always, just around the corner, a New Possibility. I love being in NYC and I love what I do, and I hope you do too. Have a wonderful day!
