I went to class at Hilltop today and was just blown away by the power of the Kindness community. Friends, new friends and people from a wide range of backgrounds practicing together, sharing unique and interesting approaches to gain more connectedness. The diversity in this studio is off the chain. I have never once as a bi-racial queer person felt so connected to a kula, and its simply because of the true nature of wanting everyone to feel safe in practice and the social progression Kindness yoga is willing to take into the studio. Patrick is a strong and solid leader and offers so much attention to his students. He gives room to examine the depth of insecurity and move towards joy and desire. I have witnessed and felt a new level of clarity from his dharma each and every class I take. Thats pretty powerful! I am in deep gratitude for the strength his family has to lead a community with kindness (pardon the pun), their very candid approach, and the highest respect in the teachers who help bolster this vision of healing yoga. I also ran into Mary Beth Hickey. One of my first teachers (she helped train and certify me as well) on my path as a yoga student. Over the last 6 years this powerful woman has given me time to reflect, loving kindness and has brought me to all the studios she teaches at as well. If you have not been in her Hot or Yin class, youre in for a treat. Her knowledge and wisdom of this practice is so deep and she will so diligently hold the space for you to get there... With love, Griffen
