MY TRIBUTE TO BOB ONGUSO Bob n i knew each other in early 90s wen our parents purchased land from Gekombe Mosioma n family.as chance had t we attended kierira primary skool together tho he was classes ahead.his bro Eric was my classmate thou.these were the days wen kierira was kierira.these were the times of nyaboga,mochama,skeeter,nyamboki,denis nyaberi(the late),the kireras,the oeris,david morema,beutah omenge,the mokombas,victor maroko,ambrose(shwazznegger) among others.we were to part ways as i changed school and dint see each other for somtime.while bob dated irene i dated her sister brenda.i donno y he was nicknamed maringo bt i rem he usd to b clean n smart n walkd with sm swag.alikuwa anapenda matusi pia.several years later i discoverd he had joined the matatu industry bt stl we maintained a cordial rshp.recently i ustu see him along the backstreet near diplomat hotel.he neva let me pass without greeting me.i wud never bypass him too.two weeks ago as i drove along the nairobi stage,i saw him seated on one of the stands n i saluted him frm the car.when i rcvd a phone call abt his death i immediately went to gucha hospital to confirm whether the disturbing message was true.i saw his lifeless body n wished he was just sleeping and would wake up.after tests administered by the hospital personnel,the sad truth was confirmed.he was dead.i followed his body as it was wheeled to the gucha hospital mortuary by his friends.i took the last snapshot of my friend and neighbours lifeless body as t lay on the embalming stand before being moved into the freezer.in my eyes he was a good man.il miss my neiba and friend.Rest In Peace Bob!
