I went to see/hear the rock band Simple Minds live last night and something really occured to me while watching the massive crowd at the concert. The vast majority of people just stood there, passively watching the band, hardly moving - almost zombified. Nothing wrong with the band - they did an excellent job, both performance and music wise. But I guess that this kind of audience is really difficult to interact with. I have had similar experiences (on a smaller scale though) when singing/performing other genres of music. Not particularly fun. But after my recent first experience performing for an EDM audience at EF 2014 I can confirm, what Ive heard from others - the EDM audience is a very special crowd to perform before. Youre much happier, much more loving, much more responsive and dancing and partying a heck of lot more compared to the general audience within other musical genres.
