I went to see one of my doctors last week. He had me on IV antibiotics. He walks in the examination room with my file, lays the file on the desk, looks at me and says. So, you know I have lots of patients cannot remember them all, so tell me, why are you here today? I wanted to say read the file. I tell him. He says okay, well we will stop one of the meds but the other one I want you to continue on for another 10 days. Pharmacy company calls to schedule delivery they want to send both meds. I say check with the doctor only one. They say will check. They deliver box. Both meds in box. I call. They say doctor wrote for both or looks that way. I say remember I told you to check with him did you? They say no, we just did the prescription the way we THOUGHT he wanted it. I say take it back. They say no. I say yes. They say no. I say how much is this med? They say OUR COST is $3,000.00 your insurance will be billed significantly more. I say it is a waste, I am not supposed to take it.....now take it back. They say loudly NO. This is not the first time things like this have happened. Being in the hospital for two months I saw so much waste it was unbelievable. NOW...........ask me why our insurance rates are so high? Ask me if I am upset? Ask me if I am mortified? Ask me if I am wanting to punch walls?
