I went to the Eid here in Halifax and just before the prayer a young brother got up and encouraged us to sign a petition to end the brutality of Israel’s current siege. I wanted to grab the microphone to plead with him and the audience that it is a wasted effort asking the governments of Canada to stop Israeli aggression. We have to take the focus off Israel and target the ideology of arms struggle as a means to liberate Palestine. The worlds opinion of tody, bolstered by media has shifted. The major network journalist are struggling in the face of social media, to keep a scripted face. What is needed now is a vision of a two state community and a commitment to a peaceful process. No ideology of destruction of Israel, the notion of a mono-state will die on its own when proper governance and rights are afforded to everyone. What we need is a global peace movement in support of a free palestine supported by all the activist.
