I went to the movie, Fury last night. It gave me a new perspective on WW2. The movie portrays a fresh draftee thrust into the waning stages of battle in Europe and the frustration of the veterans who had survived battles and laden the atrocities on a daily basis. The vets were tasked with getting their new soldier to a level of urgency, and yes, hatred incomprehensible to even the most street wise teen. My Father was a draftee into WW2 and like the young man in the movie, he entered the war in the waning stages. Only son of a farmer, Dad left behind his sisters to answer the call. He hit all the social marks for deferment, but that is how deep into the barrel the US had reached to man the two front war. I have long appreciated how hard it was for him to leave, but this movie showed me how difficult it was to be dropped into the midst of the atrocities of hand to hand combat. I now clearly understand why Dad for the duration of his life, never longed to travel outside of Barton County. Kevin Morris, Jim Wakeem, Jim Kentner, Scott Kentner, Kyle Kentner
