I went to the river at first light, Raven flew down to perch at my feet, together the misty morning we did greet. The skies were dark, the clouds were thick with the promise of more rain. I love these mystical moments, as the world begins to stir, each one unique, no two ever the same. The whitecaps danced on the rivers surface as the Winds escorted it along. Dark were the waters as they sang their song. We headed into the forest where long shadows held their place, magic was in the air so we tracked it to a sacred place. By the time I arrived the forest had taken in more light, a grove of near-bear poplar trees opened around a blanket of last autumns leaves. They seemed to stand back holding space, and Raven coarsely cawed: Step forward if you please. I took several steps in and stood at the center of this woodland space facing East. The sunlight glowed behind dense clouds and mist filled in all around with with soft grace. Then to my surprise, up from the ground a mirror did rise. Its frame ornate in an oval shape, it seemed balanced all by itself. I began to wonder, was this the magic of the Elves? So I waited to see what would happen next when Raven flew to its top and came to rest. It clouded over with a wispy mist that slowly faded away. The mirrors reflection revealed to me, the apparition the vision made. There I saw the Wizard walking along a forest path, he looked up and waved at me and I could hear the echo of his laugh. What was this all about? Then Raven gave out a shout. Three times he cawed and lifted up into the woods he went. His dynamic flight dipped through the trees and around them bent. I lost sight of him as the mist grew thin, the mirror still reflecting the Wizards journey. What was this all about, was there cause to worry? So I watched him walking the trail and in the vision Raven joined him there. Perplexing as this was, it wasnt long before the two of them actually appeared. Escorting the Wizard, flying just above his head, he waved to me and then he said: Good morning Child, youve risen early from your bed. I nodded and explained that I couldnt sleep, and went to the river so the day I could greet. Then I shared how I felt the magic, how it drew me to this place, and that the strangeness came as the mirror arose to show his face. He chuckled and asked if I liked it, and I said that indeed I did. Id never seen anything like it, he smiled and nodded his head. A little magic of my own, a portal at times, at others it allows for the scrying deep inside, and then it slips down again within the earth to hide. Show off! I teased and his smile showed he was pleased. What purpose in all of this today? He shrugged his shoulders, I just wanted to play. Then he sent Raven on a mission to spread the news, that the forest creatures were to take station so they could guide all of you here too. Then he turned his attention back to me, Watch it descend. One...two...three! The mirror began to sink back into the ground. It gently stirred the dry leaves, the air filled with that crisp sound. Just as its crown went below the leaves were stirred by a breeze. They covered the spot where it had stood and settled themselves so gracefully. Well that was really something. I said, You never cease to amaze me. He chuckled and asked if I thought all of you would be pleased if he let you see. I assured him that I thought you would, so his lesson today is a method for you to try, at least for those of you who wish to learn to scry. Well be joined by the forest creatures, the Dragons are away on a mission of their own. But the Elves will be here too, soon the grove will fill and Ill raise the circle of stones. Raise the circle of stones? I asked. He nodded and he smiled. You havent seen all of my magic yet, dear Child. Then he winked at me and sat upon a fallen tree. Come, sit, well wait here and listen for the sound of the others when they appear. I took my place beside him and we were quickly both lost in our own thoughts. I pondered what he had up his sleeve and what this morning will have brought. Hes in one of his moods, secrets with only a few clues. So hurry friends weve prayers to speak and blessings galore that we shall weave. Not to mention what the Wizard has planned, he is such a crafty old man. See you when you get here, friends...and dont forget to bring some sweets. Hes gifting us with a magic show that will be something youve never seen, he deserves a treat.
