I went up the village hall for a brunch with my neighbours and then to the church for the harvest festival. I am not religious but fancied singing a few hymns and seeing the flowers etc. It all looked lovely as Sophie had asked for some crab apples and Id snipped a couple of low branches which looked lovely draped over the alter. The service talked a lot of sense about appreciating what weve got and things are meaningless etc and looking after the earth effectively for our children. At which point B now 18months marched up the centre chattering in her own language. Timing perfect. That one is destined for the stage. The congregation was 10 people all elderly apart from Sophie and Sam, neighbours, and the lovely B. ..oh and myself I was the next youngest. It made me sad in a way. Didnt take communion or anything but enjoyed the hymns. One lady had seen the article about me in the Newark advertiser about Lymphoma and was distressed she hadnt kept it for the village scrap book. Another lady remembered me because Fi and I did a Fraser Sisters concert for the WI. Felt quite sociable for me. I am normally quite reclusive. Back at home now and preparing for a trip to Germany tomorrow.
