I will apologize up front for the following rant, and admit that most will not read more than a few lines once they see how long this post is. Id like to take a few moments to give you one mans perspective on the state of this nation and its people. I have served this country, the people and the Constitution of the United States for almost 23 years now. Ive deployed numerous times and spent well over a decade living outside the boarders of this once great nation.... Yes, I said said once great! But Ill get to that in a moment. As a member of the armed services I would swell up with pride when someone would shake my hand and thank me for my service in the defense of our freedoms, I said WOULD, not so much any more. Now I just grit my teeth, hold my tongue and force a smile all the time wanting to ask what they are doing in defense of our freedoms and way of life? And I dont mean if theyve ever served in the military. I mean what are they doing as the true defenders of the Constitution to save us from ruin. If we do unite and stand up for our rights and freedoms then who one will? When an elected official does not listen to people he represents and put the issues of the people ahead of his or hers or someone elses agenda then they are not doing the job they were hired to do. And we... The people... Their employer need to take action. And the bipartisan divide in this country is going to split it in two in my opinion. Now to get to my statement about this country being once great. What evidence can anyone provide to prove this nation is the greatest. Dont get me wrong, I would take the U.S.A over any other nation even in its current state. What I am saying is we have fallen behind so far now that besides our use of military might we are no more than a punch line to a bad joke in the eyes of the much of the world. When I returned to the states after living in Europe and Asia for almost 10 years I was beyond saddened I was sickened. I have heard it said if the founding father could have seen the future they would not have written such and such into the constitution or into law I say if they had been able to see the future they would have just been content to continue to be ruled and never secured this nation freedom in the first place. I again apologize for how lengthy this is and will now close with this statement. Wake up America! Dont be content to sit back and let yourself be ruled. Take control and hold your elected officials accountable. Voice your opinion and be a part of the solution. And please dont think Im asking you the American people to rebel, thats not even close to what Im saying. I saying to take responsibility for this country and guide it into a better future and restore some of our lost glory and greatness. Ill leave you all alone with two quotes by Edmund Burke and challenge you with reading more of his statements when you have the time. The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing
