I will have to look you up so we can all share the same sidewalk. - TopicsExpress

I will have to look you up so we can all share the same sidewalk. It terrifies me to think about what lies ahead. Im already living proof of a flawed system and it is very difficult for me to not have resentment. 8 years ago after walking away from an abusive marriage with my 30 month old daughter, a pickup load of all her things, duffle bag of my things and 300$ to my name to move from SE Texas back to SE New Mexico, where I was born and raised and did not want to go back to, I did. My dad let me move in with him. Yes I applied for govt. assistance and got food stamps. Medicaid and $320 per month in cash assistance. Decided to get a job which at that time I was getting 6.75$ hr. And gas was 4.00+. I couldnt believe how anyone could survive, and I did not want to live like that for myself or my daughter. I went to school, graduated with my RN in hopes of making a better life and being able to provide for my daughter. Well... Sounded good anyway. Of course I have employer provided healthcare , I traded my Medicaid (where I paid absolutely nothing) to paying premium deductions along with tax deductions per pay check. $3000 deductibles and avg of 30-50$ dr copays 500$ hospital copays and 20% of of expenses afterward. Well not bad .. But Ive had a couple trips to ER, my daughter was diagnosed with a genetic disorder at 3, which requires 6mon to 1 year visits with neurologist and orthopedic specialist. And in April she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes . So an endocrinologist every 3 months, and lifelong expensive medication .I took a $20000 pay cut to accept a new job in order to be with her more(priceless) but less money to pay copays premiums and now life sustaining medication. Of course it would be worse if I had no insurance. Anyway I have medical bills I couldnt pay to begin with which = a 1/4 of my salary. The state of Utah is threatening to file her hospital bills with attorney general and garnish my state tax. Lucky for me I dont own a home when wonderful Obama Care takes effect, they can gladly have my bank account. My insurance premium at work is going up with all the deductibles, copays , which is less $ for her meds/food which are what keeps diabetics alive. I qualify for no assistance being a single mother at the moment because I make too much. Its sad to say but before nursing I had no debt, yea I was poor, but I could have gotten govt housing for pennies , free food and medical for my daughter and less stress.i dont want to think about the changes coming. The only thing left for our govt to do is garnish my wages related to penalties for not paying my bills... All of this because I actually wanted to step up to the plate and take care of my daughter .... So if you would like another supporter Im right there with you, I dont have much else to lose.... But it is not right... The people getting free handouts now are going to be getting govt handouts to pay for their insurance plans.. Our tax dollars, not too mention the cost we already have to pay having insurance is too high now, all because of the lazy bastards who do nothing and think they get owed everything. Why should we work to take care of them and their children when we cant take care of ourselves and our own children .
