I will never forget: 13 years ago today I was waking my 3 boys to get ready for school. I would later arrive to my job with Bellsouth at around 9:00am to an empty call center that had poured in to the break room to watch the unbelievable unfold on the tv. While watching yet another plane hit. My anxiety grew to an all time high. Unsure of what was happening. I grabbed some coworkers and we went to the back office and hit our knees in earnest desperate prayer. When the Pentagon was hit I called Danny to see if we were at war. He tried to calm me down but I just wanted to get my kids. I picked up Josh and other family closer picked up Jordan and Joey. My kids reported to the safest haven I knew of, Grandma and Grandpas house. The days that followed were spent watching the news and the despair of those who had missing loved ones. But something amazing occurred. Americans stopped to remember God and country. The bond of our desire to be a free country rang loud as if the old Freedom Bell itself was chiming. We helped each other. Loved each other and took time to reflect on how blessed we truly had been. Our resolve was unsurpassed. We our a great country. Despite our challenges this is my country, my home and I will defend the core values we were founded on to the death. God Bless America, Land of the FREE and home of the Brave!
