I will not waiver on this personally experienced truth. Let the talkers talk. Let the stories roll. Doesnt matter what they say, truth remains - Inner confidence in your own integrity is far more powerful than obtaining the often volatile and prone-to-disappoint confidence of others. Alone we came into this world, alone well leave. But in the meantime, lets not just waste away this precious life by unnecessarily attacking other people or ourselves. As my son said recently: People can be so cruel. They try to break your spirit just because youre being YOURSELF. Sadly I know hes right. But I, along with him, have not/do not/will not participate in such ridiculousness...no matter how weird or different that might appear to the mainstream. Walk away when you know its time. Hell, let the tears float your boat downstream to get away if youre feeling too weak to walk. Find that solitude again, the kind where you can regroup and reconfirm within yourself what you bring to the table in every aspect of life. Owning our own shit is as important as owning our own treasures. We are amazingly awesome beings with so much to enjoy and love and share. AND people hurt people, far too often. It gets dark and scary sometimes. It just DOES. Perhaps we could let the darkness entomb our thoughts only for a time... and then use its gut-wrenching power to steer us towards a flickering candle ~ and breathe ~ long deep breaths to fan that flame again. Just some ponderings I thought Id share on a very challenging evening.
