I wish that followers of Christ could understand that the current popular trend of church is not just happening by accident. It is quite clever in its design, intent and target. Theres nothing awkward about the Osteens ministry at all. Its quite polished and sophisticated and purposeful in its intent. The road to Heaven is narrow and the message of Salvation is quite specific. We must die in order to Live. And, because we were born into sin, one of the symptoms of our Fallen (Wo)Man Syndrome is that our hearts have the tendency to deceive us. Our enemy knows how to speak some the most profound b***s*** in OUR own voices! And if were not for the Holy Spirit entreating and wooing us to love the Savior, we would not choose if by ourselves. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. ~Romans 7: 18 When Joel and countless others came on the scene and started the message of butterflies and rainbows and prosperity...and thus watering down the Word in order to be more palatable and socially acceptable and all inclusive and never speaking the words that would pierce the hearts of sinners to the point of conviction that would lead to repentance and submission/subjugation to the Father, suddenly it became Cool to be like Christ! And now we have believers that are even more deceived and misguided in their belief. Being simply Enchanted by the notion of Christ is something quite different than being Redeemed and Transformed by His blood...The Living Word tells us to dress daily in the full armor... because we are engaged in a battle. To quote Victoria, we dont go to church to make ourselves feel good. We are I have learned that we (Believers) cannot afford to be VAGUE in our assertions nor can I wallow in the lukewarm bath of the church of Laodicea-which God says He hates! We should not use the approved vocabulary of the world. I will not say Spirit-I will say God. I will not say that I am moral-I will say that I am Forgiven....but unfortunately, that message will not bring the masses or the money and it will make you very uncomfortable until you bow low in submission to the One greater than yourself. So, I guess that although the road to Heaven is narrow--its just wide enough to allow the few wildly unpopular, crazy, suffering-for-Christ-sake Christians that chose to love and follow the Savior as He told us to do in His Word. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24 (shrugs shoulders...) But who am I...for I know NOTHING but Jesus Christ and Him Crucified!
