I woke up early this morning and just couldnt get back to sleep. Team practice starts today and to be honest, nothing else consumed my mind from about 5:30a on. Line-ups, drills, practice schedules just filled my mind. As coaches we always have these things on our mind. Normally, the rest of the world keeps spinning. Bills have be paid, families attended to, dogs fed. But a couple of time a year, all of that seems more trivial than usual. This marks my 20th year in college athletics. Although my head coaching record is just above .500, I was born to do this. Nothing in the world comes easier for me. The strategy, the techniques, the fun. Perhaps the best thing is something I never really bargained for: watcheriks become women. As I get older, I have gotten more reflective. So today, thanks to all the coaches, past and to my current great staff of Missy McCaughey Steiger and Vern Deters, who I have stole from, collaborated with and enjoyed every second. I love you all. You are with me always!
