I woke up from a strange dream this morning. Somehow I ended up on - TopicsExpress

I woke up from a strange dream this morning. Somehow I ended up on the staff of Harpers Magazine and at a editorial meeting around the proverbial oak table. As I began making the case for sustainable agriculture, another writer got up and began talking over me in Vivek Chibber fashion about the need for science and technology, including GMO. He looked and sounded like Philip Seymour Hoffman. As I continued to make the case for Green farming, someone handed me a note. Nicholas Lemann, the editor, wanted to see me. Now Lemann was at the New Yorker and formerly dean of the Columbia journalism school but never connected to Harpers. In any case, as I walked down the hall to find his office, I was struck by how opulent the quarters were. Like Downtown Abbey. How can they afford it? The door to Lemanns office was a baroque affair, like something you might see at the Vatican. As I began opening it to be reprimanded or worse by the boss, I woke up. Usually my anxiety dreams involve being back at Columbia on some IT mess--this was a new one on me.
