I woke up in bed, in a dry and comfortable house with my family. I - TopicsExpress

I woke up in bed, in a dry and comfortable house with my family. I am eating doughnuts and bacon for breakfast. I will get a shower, put on clean clothes, get in a vehicle and go to earn some money today. Some of that money will enable me to go on a vacation to the beach next week. Many of you are like me. I think it is safe to say that we are a blessed people. Tonight I will be preaching a message to hundreds of homeless and poor under a bridge in Nashville. Understand, these friends are not starving to death. Most are stuck in a cycle of poverty, bad decisions, and consequences of brokenness in themselves or from what others have done to them... or like most of us, a mixture of both. With the brokenness is a fair amount of hopelessness that things will never change for them. This is the greatest expression of poverty in their life. Not that many of them dont have a job, but that it is nearly a fulltime job just to get and maintain the job, without solid transportation options, a checkered past, no place to shower, limited skills, etc. If you could say something to this group tonight, what would it be? What encouragement? What challenge? What word of hope? [By the way, I dont feel guilty about my lot in life. God is the one who causes the rain to fall and the sun to shine. I am free to feel content and blessed regardless of my state. I am not jealous of those who have more than I. I am not guilty because I have more than some others. I am grateful. But I am also mindful.]
