I woke up this morning feeling less than stellar with whale of a headache and a new appreciation for feeling good. When I am super fit, I feel great nearly every day... praise God, so here is the truth... it is easier to maintain good health than to reclaim good health. Therefore after a year of focusing on other things (guitars), I am officially back in the saddle as of today. Here are 10 things I was reminded of, learned or experienced on my bike ride today. 1. That Stretching your body and breathing deeply is the best cure for a headache. 2. That Shawn Phillipss Full Strength is the best pre-wrorkout meal. 3. That walking Baxter for 45 minutes twice every day IS indeed exercise and I am in better shape than I thought, but definitely NOT at my full cycling fitness level. 4. That you run into some nice people on the trail. Today a lady from Florida living in Colorado temporarily as she cares for her ailing sister. I heard all about alligators! 5. That the Cherry Creek Trail has a new posted 15 MPH speed limit so that shall be 25 MPH for me. 6. That even after a long break there is a Nie out there to watch my back. 7. That I have an ego problem when it comes to people trying to pass me on the trial. I have to accept that. 8. That I have an ego problem when I see another cyclist within striking distance ahead of me... he or she are goin down! They have to accept that. 9. That I still love my awesome and trusty bike from Cannondale Bicycles that my buddy Matt Perkins sold me too many years ago! 10. That I love being on the bike, breathing fresh air, encountering nature, clearing my mind, and pushing myself to become more fit. The biggest ah ha for me today is recognizing that a couple of hours on the bike each day still allows plenty of time to be with my family, complete my coaching schedule, work on my businesses, and YES YES YES play my guitars! If you do not have a fitness regime, get one and add to your years and quality of life, #onthebike #purecycling #maketimeforhealth
