I woke up this morning thinking of my 11th birthday. My Dad melted macintosh toffee on the stove to made candy apples. Mom and I pushed the sticks in the apples and passed them to him. He dipped them in the hot toffee and swirled them around. They were just beautiful all lined up glistening on aluminum foil on trays to dry. We cut up candies and put them onto bowls . The plan was for all my guests to decorate their candy apple. Mom cut up veggies, pepperoni and grated cheese. She put every thing in bowls.She made pizza dough so all my party guests could make their own individual pizzas. There was a great deal of pressure from Robin Rosevear and Dawn Palmer to invite boys! At that time I thought boys were horrid creatures, All greasy,smelly,sweaty and mean. I told a white lie. One I used many times when things got hot for me. As a teenager my parents wont let me came in handy! Much to my relief we got the nasty idea of boys at my party out of the way. I remember being in my glory opening gifts in a circle of girls.Dawn Cuthbertson and Rosiland Daviex gave me purple and white eyeshadow from Towers. I was thrilled about make up. Some one gave me The Beatles 45 record Revolution on one side and Hey Jude on the other. I think Barbara Wyatt ,Beatrix Pike and Cindy Watt were there. We made pizza and decorated our candy apples, we danced to Revolution over and over in the basement.i think I only had that one record. The first of many . It was just a wonderful party. Full of fun and laughter. My favourite birthday party. Thank you Mom and Dad. My birthday took ages to arrive back then. This year it came and went in a flash. The whole year that is! This year I celebrated the evening of my birthday with my dear friend Natalia, Thank you for the gifts and company Bestie! My friends Ralph and Ivy are hosting a birthday party for me on Saturday. Ralph is a wonderful cool. He is making paella. I can not wait. Thank you Ralph and Ivy. Yes, this year there will be boys attending. Thank you all so much for the birthday greeting,gifts, phone calls and love.
