I woke up this morning to the stark realization that it is April. Now, I have been aware that time is passing, but there is something about getting to April that just feels like the year is flying by. It will be Memorial Day soon. Then Labor Day. Then Christmas. There have been times where time creeps by...but not right now. In light of this, Ive decided to just make the most of it. To find something every day that speaks to me. To pay attention to whats blooming, or what someone is celebrating, or the simple things that make me happy. When life is busy, it seems too much of a bother to do all of that. When time flies, you have to either let it go and hunker down and survive...or really focus on paying attention to what is out there worthy of attention. Some days, it takes all Ive got just to get up, go to work, hit the gym, and collapse into bed. But most of the time, I have a minute here or there to try to make someones day brighter, to encourage someone, or to just notice the display of awesome that God has put out there in the form of blooming trees and flowers. I love it when He shows off. Maybe the pollen is more than you can stand, and you may be walking a path that is rocky and difficult and youd rather be carefree like my friend who is walking her Mama through a tough path this week. Perhaps you have given up hope that things can get any better because every time you try something it boomerangs back at you and puts you at even more of a disadvantage. Look up and not at your circumstances...and try to remember that there is help if you ask, prayers being lifted on your behalf by people you dont know even care, and that this too shall pass. Probably quickly. The older I get, the more Im reminded that there are always surprises around the bend. Some of them are wonderful...others are not. If you arent immersed in drama today...be grateful. And reflect that gratefulness so that someone out there who needs some hope can see it. Dont hide your light under a bushel. Shine on. Today I am grateful for good friends, for my health, my job, my family, and most of all...my faith. For beautiful daffodils that are blooming, for three furry little creatures I feed and two great kids who Im proud of every single day. Love to all of you this morning. Pray for your friends who are hurting...lend a hand where you can...and just keep looking for the blessings. They are out there in abundance. :)
