I wonder how many more Anglo Americans are like Jim Wallis? I would like to meet them and convene a conference on how their concern, and the needs of the masses of African Americans could be a partnership that could do good while doing well. Here is some info on Jim from the Sojourners web site: Jim was raised in a Midwest evangelical family. As a teenager, his questioning of the racial segregation in his church and community led him to the black churches and neighborhoods of inner-city Detroit. He spent his student years involved in the civil rights and antiwar movements. Jim founded Sojourners while a student at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois. Jim and several other students started a small magazine and community with a Christian commitment to social justice. More than 40 years later, Sojourners has grown into a national faith-based organization. In 1979, Time magazine named Wallis one of the 50 Faces for Americas Future. Jim lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife Joy Carroll, one of the first women ordained in the Church of England and author of Beneath the Cassock: The Real-Life Vicar of Dibley, and their young sons, Luke and Jack. He is a Little League baseball coach. Where are the current students who would like to take a stand like Jim? The youth and passion of youth is desperately needed in the 21st century to work on completing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.s I Have a Dream, and what is laying dormant in the hearts of many Anglo Americans and other ethnic groups who know something needs to be done about the unfinished work of Americas original inhabitants, Native Americans, and the mixed racial tribal blood from Africa and other blood which resulted in what we now call African Americans. WHERE ARE THESE YOUTH WITH SUCH PASSION? We could form Christian communes, unite our spiritual and natural brain power, education, and experience and make a lasting difference that could help solve many of Americas racial sins!
