I would have to say that 99% of my Facebook friends who live - TopicsExpress

I would have to say that 99% of my Facebook friends who live outside of Israel have never experienced what Im about to post. I would also have to say a lot of my Facebook friends who do live in Israel havent either. My friend Susan, who lives on a kibbutz near the border with Gaza, had an experience last night that sent chills through me as I read it this morning. And my answer to Susans question at the end, wouldnt any mother do that for her child? I live in the South. 2400 meters from the fence! Have done for 29 years. Last night I had one of the scariest nights of my life. Making soup in the kitchen, home alone, half an ear out for incoming. I heard a launch and then Colour Red Tzeva adom. I went to the safe room, quite nonchalantly, as in yeah ok been there done that. Heard a whoosh/scream over my head (and I was in a sealed concrete safe room) and a helluva crump. The rocket had landed in my neighbours garden. I am mother to 2 soldiers currently serving. I dont want them or any other soldier to be hurt if we go in to Gaza. I also dont want to be hurt. I have been here through scuds kassams grads. I know what its like and I know that the alternative to Hamas is Al Quaeeda/Isis who are already there. We need to show Gaza that we are the power in the area and if that means we will bomb more than empty real estate and sandlots then so be it. We residents of the Otef Aza region have been through worse, but soon we will have had enough. What we can do about it, is difficult to say. On the other hand you learn to live with the fear. Last night one of my children came home from the army for Shabbat. She got a lift from a base in the deep south if the country. To .... Sderot. We had been told by the army to stay in our safe rooms. What could I do? I went to pick her up dear reader. Drove with windows open to minimise the chance of concussion and explosion in the car if something exploded near me. Radio off - to hear zeva adom. Debated not wearing a seat belt but decided to. Roads quite deserted. Drove fast but not madly so. Needed to be in control. Picked her up. Tzeva adom in the middle but it fell where I had been 5 mins before. Got home ok. Shaky but cant show kid that. Am I officially nuts or just normal mother? Mirj, please note I made soup! Please share this status if you want.
