I would like to do a little rant on the entire Washington Redskins controversy I wonder if those who are opposed to the name have any idea where the name came from? I decided to do some research. It turns out that the owner named the team Redskins in 1937 after they moved from Boston. The team was named as such in honor of the head coach; Lone Star Diaz, an American Sioux. I also found out that 90% of Native Americans DO NOT find the name offensive and DO NOT want it changed. I find rather funny that, at least to me, the only people complaining about the name are white liberals. If the owner wants to change the name on his own, I have no problem with that. His team, his decision. However to be forced to by the US patten office ( basically the Federal Government forcing him to do so) is big trouble for anyone.
