I would like to formally apologize to Dave Nelson for not telling him about the band Whores. Upon reading a recent Facebook update posted by him in which he testified to feeling betrayed by his so-called friends for not alerting him to the existence of this band I felt ashamed. I do not expect forgiveness for this lack of thoughtfulness on my part, but I would seek to avert further condemnation by alerting the rest of you to this wonderful album. I honestly consider this to be one of the best debut albums ever made. Imagine combining Jesus Lizard, Big Business, Fu Manchu, and Emily Dickinson (not the band though I assume they exist but I’m not going to waste any of my life looking it up to find out) into one incarnation and this is what you get. I found out about Harvey Milk (the band, not the politician) about 12 years after their debut album My Love Is Higher Than Your Assessment of What My Love Could Be came out (again, one of the best debut albums ever made) and remember feeling the exact same way as Dave. It sorta feels like getting cheated on, and it sucks. Thank you all, and sorry Dave. Now I feel I know I cared a little bit.
