I would like to give a shout out to two of the most influential - TopicsExpress

I would like to give a shout out to two of the most influential people in my life, my Mom and Dad Paul A. Haecherl, with out all the love, support, and sacrifice you have given to me unconditionally, I would not be who am I today. Being able to finally give to those with out asking for something in return is truly an amazing gift. I have a patient that I see in every morning at 8 am in the pool, trying her best to get back the life that has been temporarily taken from her due to the numerous amounts of knee surgeries she has undergone over the last 15 years. As a result, she has gained a tremendous amount of weight and is praying everyday for the strength to get up out of bed and move. My role in this situation has been to not only motivate her to be consistent with showing up and working out, but to give her hope that one day she will achieve her goals of being able to walk in and out of the store without having to sit down because of the severe pain she is constantly in. I constantly emphasize the importance of having a positive outlook on a shitty situation such as hers, and that if she cant find hope from anyone else, that I will be her rock and help her get through the struggle that lies ahead. This patient referred to me as her angel sent from heaven because for the first time in a really long time, she has regained faith and hope that everything will be ok. She asked me, You must have some amazing parents? My immediate response was Well yes I do, but why do you say that? She replies, Its not only the way you dress, or the way you speak, its the glow that you spread the moment you walk into the room, and I would like you tell your parents that they did a fantastic job I told her that I am truly blessed to have the parents that I do, although they werent perfect, they did a hell of a job helping me become the man I am today. So thank you mom and dad for helping those who were in need when i was growing up. They have taken in I dont know how many of my friends over the course of my life, and without question, they have constantly helped those who were in need or just needed a place to stay without really asking for anything in return. I have learned a lot from the times that they have given to others, over and over and over again. And that lesson is to give generously without expecting something in return. The gift of giving, is truly something special that goes a long way in life, and its something that people have forgotten. I will do my best to give to those in need and to those who ask for it. I want to be a beacon of hope, and restore faith in the fact that good people do exist in this world, and that they pass by you every single day. The power of a smile can go a long way, so smile everybody, you never whose day you just might brighten and make a difference in.
