I would like to interrupt this writing vacation by observing that washing ones clothing by hand (after the washing machine where one is staying breaks) sucks shit. If I had lived in the days before electricity (and assuming for the moment that I had no handsome, scantily clad man-slaves), I wouldve worn my clothes until they disintegrated off my body. Cuz theres NO WAY youd find me slapping laundry against river rocks or scraping clothes on a washboard, not to mention rinsing them–BY HAND–and then hanging everything on a clotheslines–BY HAND. And people used to do this EVERY WEEK (or every month or every quarter, depending on which century you lived in)? Uh-uh, man, I cant have it. Noooooooo bueno.
